innovation in motion kinetic typography

Class project, 2024

Along with my classmates, I was tasked with creating a six-second motion graphic using only the word "innovate" and shape as graphic elements. Each student was given an action word, mine being "refine," which would influence how the word was animated. The final animations were displayed on the jumbotron in Iowa State's Student Innovation Center.

CONCEPT

Because of the limited color palette, and only type, line, and shape could be used I chose to focus on animating something minimalistic yet effective.

After sketching, I created six vector versions of the best 3-frame storyboards in Illustrator.

After feedback, the strongest three concepts were made into rough animations.

THE RESULT

Two of the strongest animations were combined to create the final motion graphic.
